Nepal’s capital city enjoys an exquisite setting amidst snow-covered mountain peaks, friendly locals, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a series of ornate stone temples dating back hundreds of years. Overnight in Kathmandu
Enjoy an early morning Mount Everest over flight. [This flight only operates when the weather is good and viewing will be satisfactory]. For every Nepal visitor, the Himalayan range awes and fascinates. Each and every one coming to Nepal expects not only to see the Himalayas but also to reach as near as possible. One of the biggest attractions for visitors to Nepal is the Mountain Flight. For those who are restricted by time or other constraints mountain flights offer the alternative to climbing and ensure a lasting memory of the highest peaks on earth. The flight takes off from Kathmandu Airport to Everest. Following your take off for an hour’s flight, the first mountain seen is Langtang at 7234 m. The valley of Langtang, which is not visible from the plane, is considered to be the most beautiful in the Himalayan region, then Gosainthan (8013m): the mountain lies on the Nepal – Tibetan border. The Tibetan name for this mountain is Shisapangma. She is related with many Hindu Mythologies especially of Shiva, next the Dorje Lakpa (6975m): this mountain has a Tibetan name, which means “the mountains of many sacred Thunderbolts”. This mountain is considered a holy mountain for Buddhists. The Gauri–Sanker (7134m): this single mountain has two peaks and has two names because the Hindus believe that the mountain looks like the Gods Shiva and Gouri. This holy mountain was restricted to climbers until 1977. It was only in 1979 that an American/Nepalese group reached the summit, Lhotse: (8516m): this mountain lies to the south of Everest; the name given by the Sherpas is Lhotse, which means “South Peak”. The first ascent of this mountain took place in 1956 by the Swiss and finally Mount Everest (8848m): Everest was discovered in 1852 and is the highest mountain in the world. It is named after Sir George Everest an English surveyor. Sagarmatha “top of the universe” is the name giver by the Nepalese which means, “Mother of the world” and Chomolongma in Tibetan. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey, his Sherpa were the first to climb Everest on May 25, 1953, as a coronation gift to Queen Elizabeth II. After the flight return to the hotel.
This morning travel overland to Chitwan National Park (CNP), a World Heritage Site in Terai, the subtropical southern part of Nepal. A total of 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds and 126 species of fish have been recorded in the park, but it is especially renowned for its protection of the One Horned Rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Gharial Crocodile. Overnight in Chitwan
Take a short 20 minute flight from Kathmandu to Bharatpur instead of the five hour drive.
Today your experienced guide will take you into the park to search for some of the incredible animals that live here, including the Great Asian One-horned Rhinoceros, Leopard, and Sloth Beer, deer, monkeys, wild boar and 460 different species of birds. Royal Bengal Tiger, being territorial and nocturnal in behavior, will normally not appear during the day, but sometimes your luck can do wonders and you may have an unforgettable sight of the king of the forest. You may also be able to paddle in a dugout canoe to the point where three rivers meet; the perfect place to see the park’s diverse birdlife and maybe even some crocodiles. Later today you may have the chance to see a Stick Dance, a centuries-old dance performed by members of the Tharu tribe. Overnight in Chitwan
Resting deep in the Himalayas around 200 km west of Kathmandu is Pokhara, Nepal’s most popular holiday resort and your destination for today.
